Overview
The Zoning Board is an appellate body that reviews requests for waivers from current zoning law, for projects that are referred to them by the Town Zoning Enforcement Official, or if the proposed site plan review, special use permit, or subdivision application does not meet current zoning requirements. They hear requests for zoning law interpretations, appeals for area variances (relating to building setbacks, heights, etc.) and use variances (relating to uses not permitted by current zoning, etc.). The Board must consider the impact to the neighborhood or community as well as the benefit to the applicant. The Zoning Board is supported by a Secretary, Clerk, and Zoning Attorney. Meetings occur on the first Wednesday of the month, with an agenda meeting at 7 pm and a regular meeting at 7:30 pm. The public is welcome to attend both meetings.
