Members
The Planning Board is a seven-member citizen board appointed by the Town Board to seven-year terms. Two alternate members are also appointed to serve in the event that a regular member is unavailable. All members must be Town of Ballston residents.

The Planning Board is looking for a volunteer to fill an Alternate Board Member position. Please email John Van Vorst if interested.
Overview
The Planning Board reviews development activities within the Town of Ballston, with the authority to approve, approve with modifications, or disapprove applications for site plan reviews, special use permits, and subdivisions of land. They study and vote on proposed projects, ensuring compliance with New York State environmental regulations and conformance with Town code, while maintaining the vision outlined in the Town's Comprehensive Plan. The Board is supported by a Clerk, Secretary, Planning Attorney and Town Designated Engineer. Meetings occur on the last Wednesday of the month, with an agenda meeting at 6 pm and a regular meeting at 6:30 pm. The public is welcome to attend both meetings.
Purchase of Development Rights (PDR) Program
The award-winning PDR program is a voluntary incentive program that allows for greater residential density or greater commercial square footage for new development or redevelopment when an applicant purchases PDR credits. - The submission deadline is Noon on the submission date; submissions will not be accepted after Noon
- The application indicates which documents must be included in packets
- Submissions that are missing documents, have too few copies of documents, or are not divided into packets will not be accepted
- A USB drive containing PDF copies of all submission documents must be included with your submission, even if you have emailed PDF documents and/or a link to PDF documents
- Each document must be a separate PDF file on the USB drive - do not scan all the documents into one file
- Submissions without a USB drive containing PDF documents in separate files will not be accepted
- ALL SUBMISSION MATERIALS, INCLUDING USB DRIVE, MUST BE SUBMITTED BY NOON ON THE SUBMISSION DATE
